EMS Week is the 3rd week in May every year. It is a time where EMS professionals nationwide take time to reflect on the past year, honor and remember those who have lost their lives in the line of duty, and for the community to see what a difference EMS makes. The SC PIER Team proudly conducts an EMS Celebration Day the Tuesday of EMS Week. Activities include a parade of EMS vehicles and other apparatus through downtown Columbia, SC ending at Finley Park where a memorial service for those lost in the previous year are honored. Distinguished speakers are also present to give praise to those EMS workers in attendance. Following the celebration at Finley Park, a free luncheon is held at Riverbanks Zoo. Attendees enjoy a fine meal and free admission to the Zoo. All of this is done through the generosity of the PIER Team sponsors. Without them, this day would not be possible. The SC EMS PIER Team is proud to give this small token of appreciation and praise to ALL the fine folks who provide such a great and professional service to the citizens of South Carolina. SC EMS workers, thank you for all you do! |
